Finance Fund Capital Corporation Provides COVID-19 Recovery Loan to Non-Profit Serving Single Mothers in Columbus During Pandemic

COVID-19, while putting stress on small businesses, has also challenged many families. With the economic and health crisis spreading throughout the country and state, families have had to work harder to make ends meet, especially single-parent households.

Through jobs losses and food shortages, mothers braved the pandemic and ensured the safety and well-being of their families. By partnering with Wells Fargo, Finance Fund Capital Corporation (FCAP) was able to provide relief to an organization that aids single mothers and their families in Columbus.

Motherful supports, empowers, and nurtures single mothers and their families in Columbus by providing resources, community, and education. FCAP loaned Motherful $50,700, which has been used to pay staff , buy new transportation, and cover working capital. Through FCAP’s COVID-19 Recovery Loan, Motherful was able to hire on one of the volunteer co-founders and other staff , purchase a van for delivering client needs, and begin planning for future affordable housing development.

“This funding was a breath of fresh air, a miracle. Our loan officer trusted us and gave us a chance when others would not. This opportunity was truly a lifeline for Motherful,” said Heidi Howes, Executive Director and Co-Founder.

The population of this area has increased 57.14% since 2000, including an increase in single-parent households. 40% of Franklin County families are headed by single parents, and many of these families are run specifically by single moms. Motherful works out of a region that has a poverty rate of 7.31%.
