  • New Markets Tax Credit
    • On December 15, 2015, Congressional leaders and the White House came to an agreement on a tax extender deal, which includes permanency for a few provisions and two- to five-year extension for other expired or expiring tax credits. The New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) received a long-term extension of five years (2015-2019) at its current level of $3.5 billion annually.

      S. 591 – New Markets Tax Credit Extension Act of 2015 Amends the Internal Revenue Code to: (1) make permanent the new markets tax credit, (2) provide for an inflation adjustment to the limitation amount for such credit after 2014, and (3) allow an offset against the alternative minimum tax for such credit (determined with respect to qualified equity investments initially made after the enactment of this Act).
