Getting Started. I AM A... Policymaker

As a policymaker, you can have a profound impact on economic development, job creation and investment of public dollars in your district. Our team of community development experts examines complex issues and can work with you to make Ohio’s economically distressed communities a better place to live, work and start or grow a business.

Our Public Policy Goals

Finance Fund is a nonprofit community development entity (CDE) that builds bridges between public and private funding sources and Ohio’s low-income communities. We work with policymakers every day on economic development projects in their districts. We provide facts and expert testimony about the effectiveness of government programs in creating jobs and stimulating economic growth among their constituents. We also quantify the need for increased capital for key initiatives.

FEDERAL POLICY

The Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund and its New Markets Tax Credit Program

  • Why? The Federal New Markets Tax Credit Program enables Finance Fund to attract investment from the private sector and reinvest these dollars in low-income communities.

STATE POLICY

Healthy Food Financing Initiative

  • Why? This flexible funding program expands access to healthy, affordable food in low- and moderate-income communities.

Service to Legislators and Coalitions

To accomplish our objectives, our public affairs team attends Congressional briefings, educates and informs for community development issues, makes personal visits with elected officials and their staff on Capitol Hill and at the district level, and takes an active role in important coalitions, such as:
