Getting Started. I AM A... Health Care Provider
The challenges facing health care providers in urban and rural areas can be daunting. It can difficult for providers to maintain financially viable health care services to low-and moderate-income communities where patients are often uninsured or underinsured. For patients, the lack of access to local health care service providers can result in poor health outcomes or worsening conditions that necessitate emergency care.
How we Can Help
Finance Fund Capital Corporation's Community Health Loan (CHL) Fund provides flexible financing for eligible health and wellness-related projects serving low-and moderate-income populations. This fund was developed to expand health care access for disadvantaged people by increasing the number and capacity of health and wellness centers in Ohio - especially in rural and urban areas where fewer health care centers are located.
The capital provided through the CHL Fund can be used for expansion, renovation and equipment purchases. The fund enables community-based health care centers, doctors, dentists, community health centers (CHCs) and federally qualified community health centers (FQHCs) to provide primary care, dental, behavioral and preventive health care services to the growing number of uninsured and underinsured people.
- People are seen and treated regardless of their ability to pay.
- Health care centers provide jobs and are catalysts for employment in supportive services throughout the community.
- FQHCs and CHCs save the major health care systems $24 billion annually by reducing unnecessary, avoidable, and wasteful use of health resources and ultimately lower costs across the health care delivery system. (National Association of Community Health Centers "Health Wanted" report, March 2012).
Eligible CHL Fund borrowers include all health and wellness providers who serve or plan to expand services to low-and moderate-income people in medically underserved areas. Eligibility is not based on the type of provider and/or organization that you are but the population you serve. CHL Fund loan proceeds can be used to purchase machinery and equipment, acquire or renovate a building or make leasehold improvements.
